New York Knicks star Walt “Clyde” Frazier was born in Atlanta, GA, on this day in 1945. Frazier made excellent use of his quick hands as a point guard for the New York Knicks, averaging 19.3 points per game and setting team records for points scored, games played and assists. Off the court, he made waves over his tastes for flashy suits and luxury cars (he would arrive to games at Madison Square Garden in a Rolls Royce), which led to many magazine interviews, photoshoots and commercial endorsements (Frazier was the first athlete paid to endorse a sneaker, a suede style made by Puma). Fraizer played in seven NBA-All Star games, won two championships (1970 and 1973) and was elected to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1987.
