NEW YORK, June 8, 2012 – The search for new members of the 2012-13 Knicks City Dancers (KCD) began Saturday, Jun. 9, with the Open Audition to be held at Chelsea Piers Sports Center in Manhattan. The Knicks were looking for the nation’s most talented dancers to continue their tradition of providing fans with world-class entertainment.

Throughout the audition process, dancers were required to learn and perform original KCD routines choreographed by industry professionals and taught by the KCD head coach and captain. The process also included a rigorous three-day Training Camp and individual interviews with team personnel. More than 500 dancers from around the nation were expected, all competing to earn a coveted spot on this elite team selected by a panel of celebrity judges, including guest choreographer Kevin Maher, who has worked with recording artists such as Justin Bieber, New Kids on the Block, Mariah Carey and Britney Spears, as well as KCD Alum Syndee Winters, who recently debuted as Nala in Disney’s “The Lion King” on Broadway. They were joined by 12-year old Analise Ciannilli from the Garden of Dreams Foundation, whose dream is to meet the Knicks City Dancers.

The KCD embody the sophistication, diversity and glamour of New York City. All members will represent the New York Knicks throughout the 2012-13 season at home games and community events. The dancers will also serve as team representatives at numerous publicity appearances around the city.
