The 2016 Subaru BRZ and WRX STI will both get Series.HyperBlue limited editions for the new model year. Last year’s BRZ got its own Series.Blue, this time they’ll go “hyper,” which seems to be a few shades lighter. Subaru will only build 700 STIs and 500 BRZs for the United States. Powertrains will stay the same; most upgrades will be of the visual nature.
The 305-hp STI gets blue stitching on the Alcantara seats, wheel, shifter boot, console and floor mats. It also comes with 18-inch BBS wheels, black badging and black painted exterior mirrors. Subaru’s StarLink nav system is standard along, with a nine-speaker Harmon/Kardon sound system. All Series.HyperBlue models get keyless access, push-button start and pin code access.
The BRZ gets the same accents as the STI on the seats, wheel, mats, etc. The blue motif also carries to the kneepads and door trim, accented by a silver BRZ logo on the seats. It also comes with 17-inch black alloy wheels, glossy badges and black exterior mirrors. A frameless rearview mirror completes the package with a few extra bits of carbon fiber trim.
Pricing hasn’t been announced, but they both go on sale this fall. The last BRZ Series.Blue got a price bump of about $2,500, so figure somewhere in that range. We do love that blue. Wonder if Polestar will have an issue with that?
